Here's a snapshop of what Dominic Chaplin
and Pine Creek Pictures
got up to in 2010!

in December....
it rained A LOT!

we made good use of the hay bales undercover

we just escaped the rain at the beach

the Little Mulgrave was low enough to get a quick portrait in

It was great to see our friends Mandy & Steve from the UK who in 4 days
experienced floods, power cuts, cyclone Tasha
they still cooked us Christmas Dinner (lucky we had a gas oven)
& just made their plane on Boxing Day

we finished off the year how we started
with a promotional shot of the Northern Pride
at Palm Cove Jetty

Christmas involved playing with sparklers

and our annual silly Christmas Card shot with the horses
you have no idea how many shots it took to get this
there was only one bit of tinsel & yes, Harry's hat is fake!

all the best for 2011!

and in November

 We did a

surprise portrait shoot

for Adam

Happy Birthday!

Took a few pictures of the soothing Alagrea beauty centre

Then back to our favourite...sports in the rain!

We got together with some good friends and climbed the Lamb's Head - an 11 km "strenuous" walk
Dominic dawdled & got lost.........but he came back!

You could see Cairns Central from the top

So THAT's why it's called the Lambs Head!

Then back up to Rex Smeal Park for a portrait on the beach

...and one in the studio

PEEKABOO Emerson!

And we finished of with
a model shoot for Paris

and in October ....

Too much photography this month has started to distort our perspective

the things you do when you are bored on a plane!

We went to the nation's capital, Canberra

where the weather was a little inclement

we put into practice what we learnt last month
about photography in the wet

oh & it wasn't just wet - it was cold too 7 degrees at midday BRRRRR!

we still drowned the 40D but
all hail the Canon 5D Mkll - it kept its nose above water

the support crew

thanks ma & pa - you were invaluable!

Then back to Cairns to dry out

where we took delivery of the keys to our house

Phase 2 of the formal season began with Bentley Park....

..then Cairns High

- good fun & nice people!

....and in September

Flew up to Bloomfield
for a day to shoot a wedding

Norman meets the Lesmeisters
out at Little Mulgrave

Got some good practice taking action photos in the wet

Drove the car out to Cloncurry & Mt Isa for a photo shoot (& a bit of a holiday before the October onslaught)
This is at Burke & Wills Roadhouse

Lawn Hill

....and in August

We started off the school formal season

St Augustine's were in fine form!

We welcomed the new addition to the Prestipino family

The house at Mareeba got a long back & sides

testing out the shady breakfast area....

the Di Gregorio's came out to our Little Mulgrave Outdoor studio

We saw Paul & Tamara tie the knot at Rex Smeal Park, Port Douglas

accompanied by "Thunder" the horse (he knows I have carrots....)

a couple of "youngsters" came out to Little Mulgrave

We met young Jayden who showed great interest in the family's cane farm

and Jasmine came in to update her advertising portfolio

....and in July

The Venz Family came out to Little Mully

Rhiane came into the studio with a new addition to the family

We tried to keep Clifford's children in front of the camera!

The house at Mareeba is off & running!!

oh..& we bought a new work ute

Went back to the UK for Dominic's brother Dan & Gina's wedding
at The Bingham Hotel, Richmond by the Thames - very posh!

...where Lisa had the
brightest dress there!

and we got to see some good old friends.....

Richard & his daughter Charlotte

Jim, Jinty, Lois & Dominic

Flash & Hilda

Mandy & Steve (see you at Xmas!)

Polly, Kate, Tessa, Lisa & Suzy (Lavant House Boarders & Day Girls)
after 30 years, we still feel like we're 17!

Our trip was only marred by being stuck on the M25 for 4 hours & missing our plane back home

We rescheduled for the following day & got a quick trip up to the Peak in Hong Kong
before arriving back home on the 30th!

and in June .....

We shot the U14 AFL carnival at Cazalys

did some fun pictures at the beach for the Allens

Welcomed Chase as a new brother for Jet

Had a bit of a laugh

photographing

open women's soccer

we met Emily, a sister for Ella & Eva

not at all bothered by the bright lights!

the Heggatts came out to Little Mully

we picked the house site for the block at Mareeba

the Hesps came out to Little Mully

Sasha & Dave's new baby had the most incredible range of expressions - go Joshua!

and we said a sad good bye to the maroon beastie

and in May.....

We went to our good friends' wedding
Congratulations Barry & Shirlie!

 Moptop
the silkie

even the horses dressed the part!

we took some pics of the Douglas family at Centenary Lakes

Lisa & Norman took out 1st place at the
Ravenshoe Hunter Trials (25years & over)

What a good boy!

We did the Power & Passion photo shoot for the Northern Pride
- and gave them really heavy weights to show off those muscles!

and then for something completely different!

This year's lovely Atherton Debutantes

Dominic took ANOTHER holiday (- just a quick week to Alotau in PNG)

Beautiful...

We finished up with the 15 Years touch carnival

and in April...

We took photography to new heights!

If you suffer from vertigo
LOOK AWAY NOW!

There was a very small 2 man basket swinging from the crane 30 metres above the ground. One foot on a spongy bit of bitumen.......

Thankfully the crane driver did a brilliant job!

 The result....

Lisa had a go at taking business portraits of Dominic
- she says "this subject is very hard work"

Frankly, Dominic does a much better job himself

The lilies on the dams at our Mareeba block are spectacular this month

Last year John & Jane Cornwell invited us to enter the Pyramid Race Trivia Night
& we won a trip to Green Island!

The last time we went was 10 years ago & it looked like this...

We finally managed to get a weekend without it tipping down
& spent a lovely day snorkelling & beachcombing
Thanks to John Cornwell for this great photo to remember it by

We photographed a baseball comp which Deputy Mayor Margaret Cochrane got started
- GO Margaret!

We had a lot of trouble trying to take photos in the rain this month
Luckily it stopped very briefly
allowing us to take some pictures of Suzie's lovely family at their house

we have had great problems trying to keep the lawn at bay with the rain this month
but we were pleased to finally find a prospective gardener in Jacob

lets hope that we've seen the back of those April showers!

....and in March

Very little work was done as Dominic took most of the month off to visit India.
Only 1,400 tigers are left in the wild & he was very priviledged to photograph this one

India was very busy, here are some snapshots of streetlife

..and the language that we love...

Taking the cane to the mill

Who needs a 4 wheel drive when your vehicle
will transport your goods, all the family and
also provide milk and cheese

Austar is available in all homes

We are often asked if we do hair & make-up - we haven't done any but feel this is pretty much what you could expect..

an impressionistic view of India at sunrise (or what you get when you go outside & the camera steams up!)

 Painted storks at Mysore

At the end of March we did have to do a little work including the QLD State Volleyball Championships

and Cairns Saints AFL Juniors were another candidate for the Local Directory cover

and in February...

We photographed Alyce & Josh & their boxer on the beach

We dusted off a Sydney Harbour Bridge photo for Sophie's wall

We did quite a tricky shoot for the PDC Local Directory at the Edmonton Storm

We displayed our wares at the DFO travelling AIPP Canon Exhibition

Took at trip to Sydney to see successful photographer Julie Ewing's seminar
and experimented with a bit of building photography whilst waiting for the bus..

& came back to take some outdoor photos of fearless Jay who was brave enough to feed Norman and Harry carrots at the tender age of 18 months!

...and the dams at Mareeba are now full

....and in January

Harry, Norman, Saxon and Twiggy practiced their smiles ready for this year's portraits...

We did the Northern Pride promo photo shoot out at Undara....

which Drew entered into in great spirit....

We embraced the wackier side of portrait photography for Sherrin's heart award.....

We bit the bullet & admitted that the water tank we'd installed was in the wrong place...

now the horses can collect their own water & it doesn't matter if the dam dries up..

We did some fun portraits inside & out...

and we found a great truck which we'd like to take home...
